Gov. Jared Polis makes budget request

The sheer size and scope of Gov. Jared Polis’ legislative agenda is just now coming into view days after his State of the State address. And the Democratic majority in the state legislature is scrambling to figure out how to deliver for its party leader.

The 55-minute speech focused on four main themes — read our annotated version of the speech here — but it is packed with so many more goals for his first year. All told, The Colorado Sun counted more than 40 different policy proposals or promises for his first-year legislative agenda.(Read below for a breakdown from the speech.)

Moments after the speech, The Sun asked Polis whether he could deliver all this by the end of the 120-day lawmaking term, and he remained confident. “We are certainly going to work everyday to do it,” he said.
