Legislature begins debate on $26.8 billion budget
By Peter Marcus
The Senate passed eight amendments to the proposed $26.8 billion annual budget after a 10-hour debate that saw concessions on several key issues.
The annual spending plan received final approval in the Senate on Thursday, with a vote of 30-5. Four Democrats opposed the so-called “Long Bill,” along with one Republican, Sen. Owen Hill, R-Colorado Springs.
The bill now moves to the Democratic-controlled House for consideration.
